Joanne Roskey will speak at the American Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section 2025 Employee Benefits Committee Midwinter Meeting on February 8, 2025. Roskey will present, as part of a panel, "Government Investigations." The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) each have jurisdiction over a broad range of laws affecting benefit plans, and advising a plan through a DOL or PBGC review can be challenging and time-consuming. This panel will discuss the different types of agency interactions, from information requests to targeted audits, and will discuss best practices for successfully weathering a DOL or PBGC review. Panelists will also discuss recent areas of concern for DOL investigators or PBGC personnel, including trustee expense reimbursement and the timely transmission of elective deferrals.
