Calvin Lee is a Senior Associate in the Litigation Department. His practice focuses on white collar criminal investigations and civil litigation. Mr. Lee represents companies and individuals in criminal prosecutions, regulatory enforcement actions, internal investigations, and civil litigation in state and federal courts. Most recently, Mr. Lee successfully represented a hand sanitizer manufacturer against business fraud charges brought by the FDA and DOJ in all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, dispositive motion practice, and ultimately trial in a Los Angeles federal court. As second chair at trial, Mr. Lee took direct testimony from witnesses, drafted cross examination outlines, and managed expert witnesses. In his white collar defense and investigations practice, Mr. Lee has managed fact development, coordinated responses to subpoenas from enforcement agencies, prepared clients for interviews with law enforcement, conducted witness interviews, and drafted final investigation reports.

Prior to joining Miller & Chevalier, Mr. Lee was a litigation associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in New York, where he advised broker dealers, private equity firms, corporations, and sovereign entities in navigating SEC enforcement actions and shareholder litigation. Mr. Lee previously served as a Law Clerk at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York and at the U.S. Department of Justice's Fraud Section. He was also a judicial intern to the Honorable James L. Cott of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York.

Mr. Lee has an active pro bono practice. Since joining Miller & Chevalier, Mr. Lee has represented non-profit boards of directors during internal investigations, an indigent individual facing obstruction charges, and federal prisoners in appellate litigation before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and as amici before the U.S. Supreme Court. He has also represented a Native American tribe in vindicating religious use of their land, a cadre of inmates against the Bureau of Prisons in a lawsuit over prison conditions, and a federation of Asian Pacific Islander LGBTQ organizations as amici before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in defense of California's immigrant sanctuary laws.
