Alexandria Oberman is an Associate in Litigation department, representing clients in complex commercial disputes, government investigations, and litigation involving federal, state, and local agencies including the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and state Attorneys General (AGs). Ms. Oberman maintains a diverse practice and has represented clients in both trial and appellate matters nationwide.
Ms. Oberman earned her J.D. magna cum laude from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2022. Prior to private practice, she served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Debra H. Lehrmann, Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas.
While in law school, Ms. Oberman served as an Articles Editor of the SMU Law Review and was a research assistant for Professor Tom Mayo. She represented clients and won her first trial in Texas district court as a student in the Civil and Consumer Legal Clinic. Her commitment to public service extended beyond the classroom, as she was inducted into SMU Dedman School of Law's Pro Bono Honor Roll for her volunteer legal services in the greater Dallas area.
Ms. Oberman also served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Rebecca Rutherford of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, assisting in the management and disposition of a wide range of cases.
In 2024, Ms. Oberman was named to Law360's Texas Editorial Advisory Board, which provides feedback on the publication's coverage and expert insight on how best to shape future coverage.
- Represented the National Rifle Association (NRA) against a state attorney general in a six-week jury trial and two-week bench trial, successfully defeating the AG's request for a Compliance Monitor and securing dismissal of several claims.
- Contributed to the briefing team in National Rifle Association v. Vullo before the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as in subsequent proceedings in the Second Circuit and Northern District of New York.
- Defended a publicly traded consumer healthcare corporation in a fraud and breach of contract dispute relating to hand sanitizer orders during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Represented the CEO of public company in connection with investigations by the DOJ and SEC for alleged securities fraud and insider trading.
- Represented the CEO of a pharmaceutical company against fraud and breach of fiduciary duty claims.
- Obtained favorable resolution on behalf of a non-profit in defense of a civil enforcement action brought by the District of Columbia's Attorney General for the alleged misuse of charitable funds under the DC Nonprofit Corporations Act and common law.
