On Federal News Network's Federal Drive with Tom Temin podcast, Ashley Powers, former Senior Counsel in the Contract Law Division, Office of General Counsel, at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), discussed a bill sponsored by Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) that would require vendors of online collaboration tools, like Zoom or Slack, to boost their security. It would require the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to come up with the standards, as well as have the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) make sure the companies comply.
