George Hani and Jim Gadwood Become Co-Authors of Leading Treatise on Federal Tax Accounting

Washington, DC, September 22, 2022 – Miller & Chevalier Tax Members George Hani and Jim Gadwood are now the co-authors of Federal Tax Accounting, a leading tax accounting treatise originally authored by firm Senior Counsel Steve Gertzman and published by Warren, Gorham & Lamont (a Thomson Reuters company). As co-authors, Hani and Gadwood have assumed responsibility for maintaining the treatise through semiannual supplements.

Steve Gertzman — widely considered the nation's preeminent tax accounting lawyer — authored the first edition of Federal Tax Accounting in 1993 and a second edition since then. Over time the treatise has become a leading authority on the topic and has been cited by U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Tax Court, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and other tax commentators. A student edition also exists for use in academic settings.

"In taking over the responsibility for writing the supplements, Jim and I know we are standing on the shoulders of greatness," Hani said.

"I have deep respect for Steve's knowledge and experience in the tax accounting area and am honored to become a co-author of his well-known treatise," Gadwood said. "I look forward to ensuring the treatise retains its reputation for quality and thoughtfulness for years to come.”
