How Trump 2.0 May Change Business in Latin America

Law360

In this article, Matteson Ellis, alongside contributing authors Richard Mojica and Timothy O'Toole, discussed the legal and compliance challenges that companies operating in Latin America may encounter under the incoming Trump administration's foreign policy.

"It is likely that primary among these challenges will be tariffs and other trade restrictions, tightened economic sanctions, and enhanced fraud and corruption risk," Ellis wrote. He proposed measures that companies can take to mitigate the effects of new tariffs, minimize exposure under new sanctions regimes, and address heightened fraud and corruption risk. In particular, he advocated for companies to retrench their anti-corruption compliance programs.
