Financial Advisor quoted Marc Gerson, former majority tax counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means, on the likely impact of the 2024 U.S. presidential election on the potential sunset for many of the provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). "A Republican sweep would likely result in preservation of the current tax rate structure," Gerson said. "Divided government would provide the least certainty," he added, "but keep in mind that without any action, the 2017 individual and estate tax structures will expire."
