Roll Call
Marc Gerson, former majority tax counsel for the House Committee on Ways and Means, was quoted in Roll Call regarding the challenges surrounding tax proposals from presidential candidates. Gerson acknowledged that while some new tax proposals may be adopted, the focus will likely remain on addressing expiring provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA) rather than fully implementing the candidates' expansive tax cuts. Gerson said, "I don't see them adopting the full tax relief proposals of either candidate because they've so much to do just to handle 2017."
