Robert Kovacev commented on the potential impact of proposed funding cuts to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), with Republicans likely to reduce its budget after taking control of Congress and the White House. The IRS made significant progress with staffing, technology, and customer service after receiving a funding boost from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in 2022. However, the proposed cuts could undermine these improvements. Kovacev said, "The question is will they be able to keep up that level of improvements in enforcement and customer service without the promise of additional funding and with the possibility of budget cuts?"
