Jorge Castro, Michael Desmond, and Marc Gerson will speak at the 49th Annual Federal Bar Association (FBA) Tax Law Conference taking place virtually on February 27-28, 2025, and in-person in Washington, DC, on March 3.

Desmond will present, as a panelist, "Employee Retention Credit: Past, Present, and a Moving Target" on February 27. This panel will focus on current issues with respect to the IRS administrative processing of employee retention credit claims. Panelists will discuss refund litigation, APA challenges, and the National Taxpayer Advocate's Greenbook and opine on the future of these credits and the precedent created for IRS enforcement.

Castro and Gerson will moderate "Floyd’s Panel: 2025 Tax Legislative Update" on March 3. In this session, senior staff from the House Committee on Ways and Means, the Senate Committee on Finance, and the Joint Committee on Taxation will provide their perspectives on the tax policy outlook and review recently enacted tax legislation. They will also give their insights on the upcoming tax policy agenda and priorities for both political parties and discuss what tax legislation has the potential for enactment in 2025.
